NORTH co-owner and host, Ang Christou was one of the most celebrated Carlton FC players in the history of the AFL, and despite a relatively short career, he remains a club legend. Christou became the club’s starting defender in 1993, played over 150 games alongside his best mate Anthony Koutoufides - 'KOUTA' and was pivotal in their epic premiership victory in 1995.
Ang, was noted for his heroic play, selfless courage and his long, accurate left foot kicks, often upwards of 60–65 metres. Whenever taking a kick, short or long, a chant from the Carlton crowd of "WOOF!" would always be heard. Christou was the second Carlton player to receive this chant, after Val Perovic (another long, left-footed defender) during the 1980s with the tradition now passed down to modern icon, Adam Saad.
